The band was drawn without antialiasing, which suits a two-pixel border but not type — the labels came out stepped. Drawn smooth now, and two pixels lower so the text sits centred in the 18 px band beside the keyboard icon.
moonarch-plymouth-theme
Plymouth boot splash for Moonarch. It runs on Plymouth's two-step module: a
138-frame animation in the centre, a progress bar below it, and the password
prompt Plymouth draws itself when the disk is unlocked.
Layout
moonarch.plymouth theme descriptor, read by plymouthd
images/ animation frames and the prompt's own images
Screenshot.png how it looks, from the original upload
images/keymap-render.png is drawn here rather than taken from upstream.
Plymouth cuts the current layout's name out of that band at offsets its own
library knows (src/libply-splash-graphics/ply-keymap-metadata.h), so the
file has to match the Plymouth in use — the one the original upload carried
was from an older version with fewer layouts, and the prompt showed a
different name, cut off.
The band here covers one layout, de, at the offset that table gives it
(2253, 51 wide), in half the height upstream uses. images/keyboard.png is
scaled to match. Two consequences: another keyboard layout shows nothing, and
if Plymouth ever moves that offset, the band has to be redrawn.
ImageDir in the descriptor names an FHS path. Packaging rewrites it to
wherever the theme actually lands — see pkgs/moonarch-plymouth.nix in the
moonix flake.
Origin
Derived from Linux Distro Logos - macOS Boot Style by tobilinuxer
(https://www.opendesktop.org/u/tobilinuxer), published at
https://www.opendesktop.org/p/2106821, in its nixos-mac-style variant.
Changed here: the theme's name, from nixos-mac-style to moonarch, in the
descriptor's filename, its Name= entry and its ImageDir. The images are
the original ones.
