File manager startup feels slow. Check whether a preload/warm-up service for the file manager (currently opened via xdg-open ~) would help.

To investigate:

  • Which file manager xdg-open actually launches
  • Whether gvfs services are started early enough (gvfsd, gvfsd-fuse)
  • Whether a systemd user service for pre-warming the file manager makes sense
  • Whether xdg-desktop-portal-gnome/gtk file chooser needs earlier activation

there is a nautilus daemon or something, while running in bg, interface startup is faster.
